Oct 1 Wednesday 5:30-7pm, Orange: Code Pink OC Chapter's 4th Anniversary Our Code Pink OC chapter will be commemorating the 4th anniversary of our weekly vigils at the Orange Circle on Weds. Oct. 1st! It is so hard to believe that we have been hosting vigils there EVERY WEEK for 4 years!
Many things have happened since our vigils started. For instance, when we began our weekly vigils in Sept. 2004, approximately 1,022 soldiers had already died in Iraq. Sadly, since that time, over 3,146 more have died, now totaling 4,168. We have held a number of special events, such as: to support Cindy Sheehan, to celebrate International Women's Day and Mother's Day (3 years in a row), and to protest the yearly anniversaries of the invasion into Iraq. And for the past 7 months, we have even had Freepers protesting our vigil each week.
We have joined the OC Peace Coalition and we have bonded and collaborated with several other OC peace groups, including MFSO, OC Vets for Peace, OCRAP, Women 4: OC, and OC chapter of NOW. Many of us have become good friends! Several of us have married, become mothers , and grandparents. And yet the end of the war and occupation is not yet in sight.
We invite all of you who have participated in our vigils or who have supported us over the past 4 years to come and join us in a very special vigil on Wednesday Oct. 1st! We look forward to connecting with many of you once again! We will hold a candlelight vigil that evening and stand together in solidarity as we continue our work to end the war and occupation in Iraq!
In peace and solidarity, Linda, Jacque & Kathy (Code Pink OC co-founders)

Oct 17 Friday 4-6pm, Rancho Santa Margarita: No on Prop 8 Rally Please join the Gary Pritchard for State Senate campaign in oppose Proposition 8. Gary Pritchard believes that marriage equality is imperative for a free society and that the ruling of the California Supreme Court should be upheld. A small group of people should not be able to amend the State's constitution in order to institutionalize their Religious beliefs. This is an important protest because we must let those in our community know that not everyone in South Orange County supports this ballot measure. And we have to refute the repeated lies by the YES on 8 campaign. Marriage equality will not lead to less parental rights in public schools, the loss of non-profit taxes status for Churches and the ability for individuals to still hold their own beliefs. We must not allow bigotry to be written into our State's Constitution! Thank you, Heather Pritchard
Join the Gary Pritchard for State Senate campaign with organizers Nikki Moldovan and her Father with his husband at the corners of Oso Parkway & Antonio Parkway in Rancho Santa Margarita from 4:00-6:00pm this Friday 10/17 for a No on Prop 8 rally. Below is why Nikki opposes this bill. Thank you to Nikki for sharing her story!
Hate does not belong in the California Constitution
On September 13, 2008 my father, Scott married his partner of 29 years Robert. I cannot begin to explain what this day meant not just to them but to everyone who knows and loves them. Not only was my father?s family and Robert?s family there but my mother Laura who walked my father down the aisle also had her entire family there as well. Even the Republican right wing arm showed up in force to support for this couple that had to wait 29 years to receive right to marry. But now a group of organizations would like to take the right away.
Prop. 8 is not about saving free speech, deciding what will be taught to our children in public schools or churches losing their non-profit tax status if they do not want to perform same sex marriages, those are protected by Federal & State laws. It is about telling a group of individuals that while you are equal enough to pay taxes, work and contribute to society you are not equal enough to be granted the same right that the California Constitution grants. Rights?.. isn't that the block of which this country laid it?s foundation on? So why take away the right for all Californians to marry.
Vote No on Prop 8! And here are other peaceful demonstrations going on around South Orange County. Every night around 6:00pm at the corners of Marguerite and Crown Valley a lady named Elle is heading this one up, this one is growing so much that the Yes on Prop 8 moved across the bridge to the Entrance of Ladera Ranch. Saturday 10/18 corners of Alton and Culver 11:00am Sunday 10/19 11:30am Kaleidoscope & Crown Valley
